Sangha <> Zazenkai

In Zen, we take refuge in Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha. Refuge means a sense of safety and well being. The Falmouth Soto Zen Sangha has been sharing Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha for nine years.

On August 3, 2019, we will spend a day of refuge which in Japanese is zazenkai or day of zen. We will sit in zazen, do walking meditation called kinhin, discuss Genjokoan by master Dogen, have lunch together, while sangha members will also practice different facets of our regular service procedures.

Spending a day together enriches our sense of Buddha and Dharma. That is the teaching and life of Shakyamuni Buddha and sharing the Dharma our understanding of the universe. Spending time with each other allows for deeper conversations as well as more time to meditate.

Oh yes, there will be an ice cream social at the end of the retreat where friends and family can join us on a shady lawn next to a small pond...ah!
